A New Teenagers Celebration With Gaming

We recently welcomed a new teenager into our home. As his birthday approached, we tossed around many ideas for a party before deciding on one. We would have a video game party. The theme of the party was going to be go big or go home, and we decided we would go big.

The first thing we would need was going to be some video game platforms, and it was not going to be good enough to only have one, we would have to get a Nintendo Wii, an xbox 360 kinect and a Playstation move along with a variety of games for the kids to play and some televisions for them to play on.

Getting something to play the games and the systems to play them on was fairly simple. Or so I thought it would be simple. Our home was already equipped with the Wii gaming console. I contacted a video game store and asked them if they had the systems to rent and found out they did not have the Xbox Kinect because it was to new and since the xbox 360 kinect release date had just passed it would be a while for them to start renting them but they did have titles available for all three of the platforms and it would just be a matter of finding a store that had the titles that I wanted. We did not let that stop us from getting all three platforms. Through friends and families we were able to find the consoles that we did not have and were able to use them for the party.

We needed to add a few more screens to our home to complete the game platforms. We already owned one big screen television and another that was fairly big. For the third television we decided to go all out. The local furniture rental store had a TV that had over a six foot screen that we went ahead and rented. They did not let you rent it for a couple of days, so it stayed in our home for a month. That was just one of the things that would have to be done for the party is what I figured. My wife hated the idea, but it had to be done.

We prepared the house for the onslaught of teenage gamers. The local video store was one of the places that we found some games that the kids would enjoy. We invited a bunch of my son’s friends over for the sleepover and said that they could bring anything they wanted to play on the game platforms. Our home also had other gaming consoles that we no longer used but were still able to work. We set up everything that we had that had anything to do with video games. There was plenty for everyone to play.

As the kids arrived I was amazed at the variety of thing that they brought with them. It was mind boggling to me that you could buy some of these things. I think we would have been able to open our own store with all of the stuff. The kids also had no shortage of different titles that they gathered from their own collections. I figured that the party would last all night and these kids would probably not get much sleep.

I did not last the whole night. My son and his guest lasted longer than me. They played games the entire night. The game play lasted until breakfast. I am sure that when the kids returned home they probably slept throughout the day. But we succeeded in going big.
