So recently here at Evil Controllers, I have been given the opportunity to work with one of our controllers designed specifically for the Gears of War series, the Active Reload controller for Gears of War 2. Let me tell you, it makes the game even more enjoyable than using a standard controller (don’t get me wrong, Gears of War is fun, but it’s more fun using a modded controller’s rapid fire to mow down the Locust Horde).
Your curiosity is piqued, so Evil, does the controller modded work with all the old Gears of War weapons? Yeah, they do. The functions still work on all of the old weapons originally found in Gears of War 2. If you find them in Gears of War 3 the mod function still work with only 2 exceptions: The Hammer Burst and the classic Pistol. You can’t use active reload’s rapid fire ability on the pistol, but active reload still as great as ever. The active reload function doesn’t work on the Hammer Burst weapon, yet the controller’s rapid fire works without any issues.
Those are the only two weapons from the previous Gears of War that have had any issues with our Evil Controllers. You can use both functions on all the old weapons in the game besides the ones mentioned.
However, have no fear, we at Evil Controllers are working to get the Pistol and Hammer Burst to function with the controller; we are also working on how to make the newer weapons function as well. Though we don’t believe that releasing a product during the Gears of War 3 Beta is a good decision, we are going to release a new Evil Controller specifically for Gears of War 3. Expect Evil Controllers to have a new product for Gears of War 3 during the game’s Fall release.
In the meantime, our Active Reload controller and our rapid fire functions are working just fine in the Gears of War beta, so give your modded controllers a test spin. You’re going to find it mighty enjoyable like I have.
