I want to introduce myself. My name is Don Anderson and I’m a pilot that’s a nut about flying. I simply can’t get enough. When I’m not flying my Cessna, I’m playing some sort of flight simulation. I wrote this article to warn you of three things you should always look for in a flight simulation. I’ve made a few bad purchases in the past, but now I know what to look for in a game.
I have to admit that I’m addicted to flying. Even when I’m at work I often daydream about getting some more time in my Cessna or playing my latest flight simulator. I always look forward to my days off when I can log some hours on my computer or up in the skies – all in effort to help pass my next flight exam and to relax.
I’m going to tell you a few things you should know before you buy your next flight simulator. First, finding a simulator that is very realistic is incredibly important to the game’s longevity. If it’s not realistic, you won’t play it for long. Look for realistic planes, airports, maps, and weather.
Second, find a simulator that will work smoothly with your computer. Don’t neglect this step. At one time I used an older computer only for playing my simulator and it wasn’t fun, mainly because the computer was old and not high powered enough to run the game. I didn’t want to install it on my work computer or family computer because I was afraid it might crash it (not uncommon for some games) and I’d lose vital information.
Last, you will need to make sure that the simulation comes with updates and support. If it doesn’t you might be paying an arm and a leg, just to keep the game up to date! I’m lucky enough to have found a flight simulator that gives me free updates for life! And, it even came with a 100% refund if I didn’t like it. Obviously I decided to keep it, since it gives me everything a good flight simulator should have.
