Morrigan was first featured in the game Darkstalkers. This is a game by Capcom that features classic monsters battling. The first version of the series was released in 1994. Other source material that she has appeared in has been Marvel vs. Capcom and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Since she has appeared in various video games, novels, and comics outside of the series, she has been called the main protagonist of the game.
She a succubus who is bored with her life in the Aensland castle. A succubus is a female demon, and while she does have the temptations of a succubus, she is tempted to join the Earthly realm. Because of this, she can be classified as a classic anti hero. In the anime Night Warriors, she is a member of the royal family, who visits the human world out of curiosity and boredom. She is portrayed as a hero because she’s bored and wants something more than to just be rich and do nothing with it like her royal family. In other anime versions, her character is depicted as a cliche villain, or they play on her role as a succubus, since her character has always been associated with sex.
Her family’s powers are much different from the other families around her. This is because most succubus gain their powers from sucking the sexual life out of others. Her family is different in that she has enter the dreams of the sleeping on Earth to gain her power. If she was unable to do this, she could possibly die. This is another reason why she learns so much about Earth while being stuck in her castle.
In the fighting game, Darkstalkers, her character plays closely to the character Ryu from Street Fighter. Her strongest power, Darkness Illusion can be activated in the original games by the button sequence LP, LP, F, LK, HP. When fighting, she can use her wings to transform them into blades to attack. Also, she can make her wings turn into bats that attack the enemy. One of her strongest powers is that she uses ki energy to propel blasts.
The latest games that she has appeared in has been Cross Edge and Namco vs. Capcom. Her characters is the most popular of the Darkstalkers series, having appeared in more cross overs then any other character. It would not be surprising to see her gain more popularity as time goes on.
